I don’t leave many author comments, (I should do so more often,) but I feel like I want to make a note somewhere during this scene; WOE is obviously a fantasy story, and I’ve gone to some lengths, (maybe too much,) in writing this scene to stress the remorse and conflict within Rock, and to show that this commitment to understanding and forgiveness is part of Ixis’s personal ethos and not any sort of allegory for excusing and forgiving bigotry in reality, especially in the contexts of authoritative figures.
I hope I did an okay job of retelling this old WOE scene in a way that doesn’t leave a bad taste in anyone’s mouth. It was hard enough to write it in a way that didn’t leave a bad taste in my own, and I’m still a bit conflicted on whether I was successful lol.
(And if all this sounds silly and paranoid just don’t pay me any mind. I tend to have very strong but very quiet feelings about certain topics that I’m not great at articulating.)

Relatable.
Heavy scenes are never easy to write.
